Whetū & Nick is an original tale of a young māori girl and a British orphan cabin boy who set out in search of Captain Cook’s map, a flying kite, and the sacred maunga (mountain). Along their way, they discover their cultural differences and similarities, their peoples’ voyages, and their shared love of Aotearoa.
Working alongside two other designers, our job was to illustrate and animate the backdrops for Whetū & Nick, a live theatre production. These projected animations worked to enhance the actors performances and draw the audience into our created world.
